Grown up girlies

well, i am once again inspired by the most inspirational little dumplings in my life. Pip has become somewhat scared of too many things in life. Eva takes great joy in describing a scenario usually involving foxes/ forests/ nightime/ you get the drift, and it leads to pip being so scared she doesn't want to sleep in her own bed. Pip has been recently asking to sleep up at Nana's."sure" I say, Pip replies, "but with you too". Meanwhile Eva blissfully unawares of the grumpy comments from Daddy when he heads to bed, and the extensive discussions about the forest in the lead up to bed, bribing, lying… Just pleeease get into bed…… This brings up the late night musings of why Pip is so sensitive. I have concluded that Pip seems to like all her ducks in a row. She doesn't like the fact she can't see whats in the forest. She finished a weeks worth of homework by Tuesday this week. Her room is a collection of things categorised into a million boxes. Then onto my second favourite musing, how will this translate to her as an adult woman? a skill that requires managing the detail??? Ahhhh, and to the sister. The older sister that treads a fine line of love and hate with her baby sister. I am often caught out taking Pips side; should the older know better, or because I was the baby sister… either way I feel bad when it happens. Eva is the queen of pranksters at the moment. I think she even has a prankster book in her room somewhere. Plastic cockroach on my pillow. Batteries pulled out of steve mouse. I'm impressed, she's very consistent. I can also admire Eva's oversight of the detail. She is most comfortable in her black wolf t-shirt, bermuda shorts from the boys department and black leather high tops, her crowning head of amazing hair defying any boyishness. Or maybe her dainty heart shaped face… ok I am distracted.. What type of adult woman is hinting at us behind those freckles? A big picture player like her dad? Sooo creative in life. I don't think she realises that yet and pray she doesn't become the frustrated artist like a few other women in my family.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Spring has sprung, and I secretly love it!! We have had a drastic shortage of powder days this winter, lots of very cold icy days.. so now it is a welcome change to feel the heat in the sun. We only have a few more weeks here in our eclectic house on Holly Drive. I would have liked to have immersed more into the community here, but alas, although the friendliest people on earth, people are too smart to start anything new with those just here for the winter. This has been a double edge foe the girls. Although they miss their playdates, they have been forced to spend a record amount of time together, usually stuck inside. This has proved an interesting dynamic, and for Steve and I also. There may be a higher power influencing our family on this trip. No snow, cold temperatures, no friends, makes for a lot of time together, and the ever hopeful me trying to reduce screen time from all parties. Out of this has come some new things. Pancakes religiously on sunday, sometimes even made by Eva. Monopoly played even by the man who hates board games. Pip has become the dark horse in chess games...Also, between the sisters, Pip is openly in love with her sister and encourages new games all the time. Eva on the other hand secretly loves her sister, and you can see her tense up when she is caught playing one of pips make believe games. But they do get along so well now, I think being given the chance to learn more of the intricacies of each others personalities.

Its time!

Well, it seems it's quite hard to get back on the horse. Not that i haven't thought about it! I seem to have frozen moments in my day where I am dictating a post. Something has happened that deserves to be recorded in time. It still always comes back to wanting to speak to my adult children… It sounds weird now that I've admitted it.
This is the last photo updated on my computer. My computer is hijacked by Eva most afternoons as she plays Friv, free online games for a 'controlled/monitored/i remember loving computer games' amount of time. Eva is also into anything resembling stationary, still sooo creative. Loves to write diaries, and has snippets of writing everywhere possible. In the photo she is dressed as a wild thing, insisting on the beard.
And Pip, oh my Pip! I forget she is still such a baby sometimes. She hangs out with kids a few years older, and keeps up without a hiccup. But every now and then, she just wants manly, cuddles and all the comforts of home. This comes with full encouragement from me.
So I think I have crakced the surface of the creme brûlée and will be posting a lot more!!!
